Automobiles | Garage storage problems :: By K Quinn ...

Garage storage solutions are as close as the local big box home improvement store. You need a place where you can easily find all your car tools and equipment for DIY.

//

First, get rid of anything that is no longer useful, no longer works or is otherwise not needed. Draw out a plan of the area you intend to use. Once you have drawn your plan mark off where you intend to park your car. Then draw in where you think you will keep the bigger items such as grass cutters.

//

An ideal option for your garage are sound shevling units. This gets things up off the floor and provides more storage area. You can find shelving units in all sorts of varieties. What size, and how many units are you going to need. If you have a workbench, this will be an superb space to store cumbersome items.

Stand alone drawers can be ideally situated below a workbench. These drawers provide an excellent place to store your tools. If you still have space you could put your car jack and other large car tools under the workbench. However, if you do not have a workbench there are still plenty of garage storage solutions available to you such as drawers and cabiniets. Harmful products such as anti-freeze should be kept locked away or high out of reach of children. Using a peg board can also optimise your garage space. There are a large variety of hooks, holders and bins that are made to use with pegboard. An advantage of a peg board is that your car tools can be hung relatively close to your car for easy reach. A specialised peg board can hang heavier items.

//

Long handled tools can be stored in a dust bin. To make sure its doesnt fall over from the weight of the tools, loads the bottom with heavy rocks or other items. If you place the items in the container handle down, you will find it easy to select the tool you need. Home improvement stores have empty metal paint buckets that are perfect for storing large wrenches and socket drivers on the workbench. If you plan to get more tools in the future then plan ahead and purchase more hooks for your peg board. A couple of buckets on your peg board is also a good idea. Store cloths for cleaning in one. Work gloves can go in the other. If you plan on tuning up your car in garage make sure you have some good bin bags as well. Once you have finished the floor plan and made sure you have got rid of any unneeded items you are ready to go. You will see a complete transformation after only a couple of days work!
